Letter from the President
Dear brother/sister

Greetings to you in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am very glad to meet you through this letter. Hope you and your family is doing good. I am glad to introduce the quarterly newsletter in a brand new format. Please read the entire letter. We have an article, Treasurer's Report, who is who in OFUESI-USA and the Praise & Prayer items for you to pray for the ministry.

God gave me an opportunity to attend the UESI Golden Jubilee Conference at Vijayawada, AP, India. It was a glorious time. I had a chance to attend all the sessions, listen to the Expositions, Devotions and papers that were presented. I am very much encouraged by attending the conference. My vision is renewed. I had the opportunity to meet lot of my old friends. Also I had an opportunity to share about the ministry of Overseas Friends of UESI - USA.
98.5% of Students in India are still not reached

According to the paper presented by Mr. Prabhakar Solomon, only 1.5% of the Student population in India had the chance to hear gospel through UESI. So there is a huge task ahead of UESI to reach 98.5% of the students with the gospel of Jesus Christ. As friends of UESI, we have the responsibility to pray for UESI as they are moving ahead with the torch to spread the flame to every corner of India.

Coming to OFUESI-USA ministry, lot of good things are happening. Our graduates are consistantly meeting in some places for EGF. Also a new Indian Students Bible Study was started by some believing students at California State University, Sacramento in cooperation with Campus Crusade for Christ. Please pray for this Bible Study. I encourage you all to look out for the opportunities on the local Campuses to reach Students, especially students from India.

Yours in His service,
Paul Sudhakar Sunkari

Lessons from Paul's faith under trial
Thirukumar vethanayagam
We read in Acts the trials Paul faced in Jerusalem because of his open testimony. Jerusalem was a calm city until Paul entered it. Jews wanted to kill him (21:31). Was he not playing the game right? Was he being politically incorrect?

But God gave him a promise (23:11) and protected him through an unnamed commander (22:29; 23:22). Paul was left in prison for 2 years (24:27) because the governors were more interested in favoring Jews than justice (24:27; 25:9). Or is it that God was working behind the scene and protecting Paul from the unseen dangers? Do we believe that God is looking after our welfare and live every moment under that conviction? Or do we try to cover our faith in order to gain worldly favor?
Living in secrecy when we have liberty is not God's plan

Paul was caught in between a rock and a hard place when he was kept in prison without a cause. To come out could have meant ambushed attack on his life but to stay in would mean a life wasted inside the four walls of a prison. Was it wasted? No, not so in Paul's view. Paul made his claim about Jesus openly every opportunity he got irrespective of the audience, may it be the mob (22:1-21) or governor Felix (24:10-21) or for that matter King Agarippa (26:1-32) because his trust in God was unshaken and his focus undaunted. How about us? Are we openly confessing Christ to the lost world around us irrespective of the circumstances or the passive resistance we face?

Living in secrecy when we have liberty is not God's plan. We need to step out in faith against the subtle storms of the world at home, at work, and in the marketplace that keep us imprisoned. Like Peter, let us reach out to God when we lose our focus (Matt 14:28-30) and pray when we face unbelief (Mk 9:24). As someone said, "When doubt knocks on the door, let faith open it". Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us (Heb 12:1). In doing so, we will experience the abundant life (Jn 10:10) God has promised us and attract others to Him as well.
