Dear brother/sister in Christ

Greetings in the most highly exalted name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. It’s a joy for me to meet you through this letter.

At the outset, let me wish you a very happy and blessed Christmas. May the Lord bless you, guide you and lead you as you venture into the New Year 2003.

When I look back at the year 2002, many things happened in my personal life as well as in OFUESI- USA. I will outline some of the things that happened in the past year. Please read and pray for OFUESI in your personal, family and corporate prayers.

  1. Non Profit Status: I am extremely happy to announce that Overseas Friends of UESI-USA is a non-profit organization in USA. Even though it took long time to get the non-profit status, we are happy that we got this status in the most needed time. I would like to praise God whole-heartedly for helping & guiding us through this process. And also thank you all for praying diligently. Beginning from January 2003, if you want to send money to UESI, you can write a check to OFUESI-USA and send it to sis. Latha Jesudass, 26035 Bouquet Canyon, Apt. # 228, Santa Clarita, CA 91350. You will get a tax-exempt receipt from OFUESI- USA. Praise God that we were able to send around $20,000 to UESI from OFUESI-USA Graduates this year.
  2. EGFs: We have renamed Prayer cells as EGFs (Evangelical Graduate Fellowships) , which is a familiar term for all of us. The strength of UESI is in Fellows hips, where we understand each other, grow in the Lord and support each ot her. We have EGF groups at San Jose, Los Angeles, CA; Dallas, TX; Clarksv ille, MD, Atlanta, GA and Philadelphia, PA. We praise God for these fellowship groups where we could meet for Bible Study and prayer. We are praying that there will be new EGFs started at upstate NY and San Diego, CA. Please pray that the Lord may help us to start the EGFs in other places around the country. If you are interested in starting one in your area, please let us know. It was decided that these EGFs should meet at least 4 times a year.
  3. Regional Conferences: The Lord helped us to have two Regional Conferences – one in the East coast and the other in the West coast. Lord willing we will have a conference in one of the other regions in the coming year. Also we are planning to form a Committee for the Eastern Region. Please pray that the Lord may rise up committed people who can take up the responsibility and coordinate the ministry in the other regions.
  4. National Council: By God’s grace, we were able to expand the National Council to 12 people. We had our Annual meeting on November 9th at Clarksville, MD. It was a great time of sharing and recommitting ourselves to carry on the vision the Lord has given us. Bro. Surendr a Parmar represented UESI in the meeting.
  5. Bro. Surendra Pramar’s visit: Bro. Surendra Parmar , Secretary, National EGF, UESI visited us in the months of October &a mp; November. He was able to meet some of our graduates and encouraged them. Also he spoke in the EGF meetings at Atlanta, GA; Clarksville, MD, and in the Western Regional Conference and National Council meeting. All of us were encouraged by his ministry.
  6. Website: I would like to remind you about our website, http://www.ofuesi.org. If you haven’t visited the website, please visit now. Bro. Prakash George & team has spent lot of time and effort to set up the website. Please fill out the Survey on the website so that we can have your latest contact inform ation with us.
  7. Address List: We are in the process of updating the Address list. Please send us your latest Address, Phone no. so that we can easily pass on information to you. Also if you know any one who is from UESI background or interested in the Students ministry in India & USA , please send us their contact information.
  8. Missions: For the first time, students from India, have became the largest group of international students in the US, this year. We are exploring the possibility of teaming up with local campus IVCF to reach South Asia n Students. Please pray and join us in these efforts.
  9. Urbana 03 Convention: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, USA is hosting the Urbana 03 Convention during December 27-31, 2003 at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Please pray for this Convention and OFUESI-USA will be participating in this Conference. For more details, please visit http://www.urbana.org/u2003.quickfacts.cfm.
  10. UESI News: You might have received UESI InTouch for the m onth of December. I don’t have to tell you the importance of prayer. UESI is a movement built upon faith & prayer of individual Graduates, Staff and Students. Please pray for the items mentioned in the newsletter. I would like to bring to your notice the financial part of the newsletter. There is a deficit of Rs. 2.75 lakhs (around $6000) for the month of Novem ber and so we need Rs. 9 lakhs (around $20000) for December. December is a busy month and every one will be celebrating Christmas and arranging Christmas programs in India. Our staff workers need our support. Please pray and as the Lord leads you, support UESI ministry.
  11. UESI Golden Jubilee: Please pray for UESI Golden Jubilee Celebrations to be held in the last week of December 2004 to celebra te 50 years of God’s faithfulness. Pray for the conference committee as they are planning for this conference.

If you have any comment or suggestion, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your partnership in this ministry for the cause of students in India and United States.

Yours in His Service,
Paul Sudhakar Sunkari
